Go To Neutral Paint Colors

A compilation of my go to neutral Benjamin Moore paint colors. I tend to stay away from “beigy” neutrals and super cool grays when choosing neutral palette for a house when you are not sure of what the decor would be. The colors below are pretty fail safe if you need to choose colors and you do not have your entire color schemes figured out. They are classic and not trendy. The wall colors will work with any of the trim colors. You can bring out warmer or cooler tones based on the white trims. You may look at these and think-they all look the same. There are nuances to each color. Remember to always get sample pods and test out colors before committing. It costs a little bit and takes time - nothing like putting paint colors on the wall to make a decision. I kept Farrow & Ball out of this post. F & B has an amazing fail safe neutral paint palette.

Go To Ceiling Color

Benjamin Moore OC-13 Soft Chamois

I have used this Benjamin Moore off white color for years on ceilings. This off white works with both cool and warm tones on the walls. The standard “ceiling paint” is a bright white - just is not a good choice. This white just adds a base off warmth to rooms. I recommend using a flat or matte finish as a general rule for ceiling paints.

Neutral Wall Colors

Benjamin Moore HC-172 Revere Pewter

If you are looking for a classic medium neutral warm gray tone for your walls, Revere Pewter works with almost any decor. It is not a gray tone that goes in and out of style. It has a lasting tone that you can use reds, blues, whites, purples almost any colors will work well with this color as a back drop. It works well with both creamy trim colors such as BM Linen, BM White Chocolate, BM Simply White and it also works with a cooler popular trim color BM White Dove. It is versatile in many ways.

Benjamin Moore HC-173 Edgecomb Gray

Edgecomb Gray is a lighter cousin to Revere Pewter. If you are in need of picking a neutral color for main living areas, Edgecomb Gray will not disappoint - it is light and sophisticated and will work with almost any decor. Along with both warm and cool tones for trim and furnishings. A good color for hallways, entrance ways, family rooms, kitchens, etc. Like is cousin Revere Pewter - it is not a trendy gray, but a classic gray that lives outside of trends.

Benjamin Moore OC-117 Simply White

Simply White has slight warm undertones. It looks really white up against a “linen” type white, but still warm against a white void of undertones. Whites are so different - which I know some people do not get. Whites are complex and multiple times I have found myself staring at different ones on a wall to decide which one is best. Simply White is my first choice for white interior walls. I like the slight warmth it adds to a space and still being white. It can work with both warm and cool decorating tones.

Benjamin Moore OC-23 Classic Gray

Classic Gray will leave slight color on the walls and add a bit of warmth that can still work with both warm and cool tones also. It is not a trendy gray - you will be able to decorate the way you want and not feel like you need to paint the house. Classic Gray will work well as a base wall color throughout your home.

Go To White Trim Colors

Benjamin Moore OC-127 White Chocolate

White Chocolate - are you looking for a rich creamy white that can almost fake you out at times for being more white? White Chocolate is a great choice. It adds a nice warmth to a house that uses white trim. I have used it in both interior and exterior trims. It is not as creamy as the commonly used BM Linen. If you are looking for a creamy white, test White Chocolate and Simply White. One of those will likely work for you.

Benjamin Moore OC-17 White Dove

White Dove has gray undertones. It is very versatile and works well in almost any home. It comes off as a cream but with cooler undertones.

Benjamin Moore OC-117 Simply White

Simply White is a light creamy white with warm undertones. It cam come off as very white and the undertones are really only in your face if you put up a white that is void of undertones. Simply White will work with any decor and add a hint of subtle warmth to your home.

Benjamin Moore OC-65 Chantilly Lace

Chantilly Lace is very “white”. Looking for a crisp white look with very little undertones? Chantilly Lace is a great choice. Test it and play with it with the colors your will be using in the home.
