Use of refrigeration with full extension shelving is a plus for the design of any commercial bar

Last week I was eating at a local restaurant and we sat at the bar. The restaurant was busy, but the bar was unusually slow. The bartenders were doing a bunch of chores restocking the small refrigerators. This bar is really seems to be well designed overall and with a lot of refrigeration. However, the bartenders had to almost get on their knees to stock the refrigerator shelves. The same would be required to get items from the back of the refrigerators. I have no idea the brand that was installed.

Both for ergonomic reasons and time saving, installing under counter refrigeration with glides would be worth the money in the long run. I am assuming refrigeration from say Perlick that has full extension smooth gliding shelving does cost more than units that do not have such features. The extra cost would pay for itself over time.

Better ergonomics for the bartenders should help mitigate back strain and back injuries. Constantly needing to bend over and strain to get items in a fast moving bar night after night is a major consideration on the design and workings of a bar design.

Seconds turn into minutes, over time little design elements as simple as stocking and getting items out of refrigeration quickly add up. When designing a bar, consider purchasing refrigeration that is easier to use with full extension shelving.

I remember the first time I saw the Perlick under-counter refrigerators in the residential market with the full extension glides. I was so excited - the best feature ever for a small refrigerator. If you did not know such features existed, they do. I am sure other manufactures likely have this feature also. Perlick has full extension shelving available for both the residential and commercial markets.
